The wear layer is the clear protective surface above the floor's printed color and pattern. It helps resist everyday scratches, scuffs, and wear. This product has a 20 mil wear layer. WarehouseDirect.US carries flooring with wear layers of 20 mil or greater because those products are designed to handle most residential living demands.
Total thickness measures the complete plank, including its attached pad. Thickness can affect how the floor feels underfoot, but the core, locking system, and installation conditions also matter.
SPC is a rigid stone-plastic composite core. It helps the floor resist dents and moisture while keeping the locking system stable.
An attached pad is the underlayment bonded to the back of each plank. It can improve comfort and reduce sound, but the subfloor and manufacturer installation requirements still need to be followed.
These are the width and length of each plank. Size changes the visual scale and layout of the finished floor, but a larger plank is not automatically a higher-quality product.
Waterproof status describes the selected product’s resistance to water; check its exact construction, installation instructions and warranty. That does not make the entire room or subfloor waterproof. Water can still reach the subfloor through seams or around the edges, so spills, leaks, moisture, drainage, and installation details still need proper attention.
Rule of thumb: 10% is common for cuts, layout, and damaged pieces.
